Overview

The Envirothon NB Provincial Competition is an exciting two-day experience packed with learning, teamwork, and fun! Students will explore local ecosystems, test knowledge in the field, and develop solutions to some of today’s most pressing environmental challenges—all while building leadership, teamwork, and critical thinking skills. Envirothon NB is designed for students in grades 6–12, this hands-on education program blends science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) with real-world problem solving and outdoor exploration. Through the Envirothon NB program, students explore five core topic areas: Aquatic Ecology, Forestry, Soils and Land Use, Wildlife, Current Environmental Issues.

Competition Overview

  • Teams rotate through four hands-on testing stations—Forestry, Wildlife, Aquatic Ecology, and Soils and Land Use
  • Teams tackle real environmental issues and present solutions to a panel of judges. Current Environmental Issues are released before the competition, giving time to research, plan, and create science-based proposals
  • Teams spend the weekend on a New Brunswick university campus, stay in dorms, eat in the dining hall, and get a feel for post-secondary life
  • Students meet from across the province, learn from experts, and get inspired by others who care about the same things
  • All competitive and non-competitive teams are recognized and celebrated. Teams compete for medals, prizes, and the chance to represent New Brunswick at the International NCF-Envirothon
