School Counsellor PL Sessions (Sept – May)

November 7 @ 3:00 pm - 4:00 pm

To support learning and the rollout of the school counsellor framework we are offering optional Live PL sessions that will be recorded and share via the school counselling framework website in the resources section.

Invites to these optional sessions will be shared through your counselling coordinators closer to the event. The full schedule is shared here for planning purposes.

Please consider add the sessions to your calendar. Official invites will be sent approximately 2 weeks prior to the session.

These sessions will run on scheduled Thursdays from 3:00 – 4:00, except for the September 24th Session.

This supports learning focused on the mental health field of practice. 2. Thursday October 3, 2024 3:00 – 4:00 Career Panel Discussion This session will focus on the Career Connected Learning field of practice within the NB School Counselling Framework. In hearing from a variety of supporters and advocates for career education, the school counsellor will develop further competency in this field of practice. 4. Thursday November 7, 2024 3:00 – 4:00 Integrated Service Delivery and School Counsellors This session will explore Integrated Service Delivery and the supports they offer to children and youth. We learn how to best leverage your connections to your Child and Youth teams and provide strategies to best work collaborate with them. This session supports primarily learning in the mental health field of practice but could be connected to all four of them. Thursday December 12, 2024 3:00 – 4:00 Mental Health and Therapeutic Approaches that Stay within Our Scope Therapeutic approaches in school counselling emphasize methods that fall within the professional scope of a school counsellor. These include Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Solution-Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT), mindfulness-based approaches, person-centered therapy, trauma-informed care, and family systems therapy.
