Services linguistiques is a collaborative project involving the anglophone sector of EECD and the four anglophone school districts in New Brunswick, funded through the Government of New Brunswick and the federal Department of Canadian Heritage. The team consists of a project lead and five coaches. They will provide opportunities and services for pre-service and French second/additional language educators and school staff to enhance their French language and cultural understanding through a variety of different experiences: self-paced autonomous learning, courses, social and cultural events and resources. All services will be created to foster cultural and linguistic appreciation.

Fall 2024 Session Overview

Virtual Group Classes
- Group classes (All levels): 10 weekly classes offered to individuals new to our services to familiarize themselves with our platform and modules or to individuals who prefer to learn in a group setting.
- Classes A1 and A2 are 60 minutes and classes B1 and C2 are 90 minutes.
With your Linguistic coach, you will be exploring the following:
- A1 : Qui suis-je? (for new learners at this level)
- A1 : La famille proche (for returning A1 level learners)
- A2 : La vie quotidienne (for new learners at this level)
- A2 : Une personne importante pour moi (for returning A2 level learners)
- B1 : La culture acadienne
- B1 : Les Jeux olympiques
- B2 : Réflexions 3 (Le futur avec l’IA)
- B2 : Réflexions 2 (L’état actuel des choses) (NEW intensive course! Available for B2 only. Sept 17- Oct 22)– Tuesday 6:00- 90 min and individual work in between. Are you looking for a fast-paced way to improve your French? Come try our accelerated learning format for five consecutive weeks from September 17 to October 22. Synchronous tasks are scheduled for Tuesday evenings including office hours and open discussions, and asynchronous tasks are assigned to be completed by the following Monday.

One-on-one Independent Learning
- Offered to individuals who have ideally completed at least one group class with Services linguistiques and prefer one-on-one coaching to progress through the modules. Meetings with coach are scheduled according to availability but limited to one 30-minute session a week.

Social and Cultural Activities
a. Art Classes (A2 and up) Virtual and In-Person
- Mondays (Sep 16, Sep 23, Oct 7, Oct 21)
- Individuals will learn painting techniques to complete a masterpiece per evening tout en français!
b. ”Café-rencontres” at Chocolat Voyageur – In-Person ASD-N
- Monday (Sept 16, Sept 23, Oct 7 and Oct 21)
- Come and take part in our café-rencontres at Chocolat Voyageur in Miramichi! You’ll share your time with others who also want to chat in a warm, friendly atmosphere. Each week, we will cover a different topic, and you’ll have the chance to practice speaking French.
c, Book Club / Club de lecture (B1 and up) Virtual
- Tuesday (Oct 29, Nov 5, Nov 12, Nov 19, Nov 26)
- Readers will spend 45 minutes talking about the short text assigned to read at home, and the last 45 minutes will be spent preparing for the next reading assignment through discussions and games.
