Services linguistiques – Summer 2024

Services linguistiques Overview:

Services linguistiques is a collaborative project involving the anglophone sector of EECD and the four anglophone school districts in New Brunswick, funded through the Government of New Brunswick and the federal Department of Canadian Heritage. The team consists of a project lead and five coaches. They will provide opportunities and services for pre-service and French second/additional language educators and school staff to enhance their French language and cultural understanding through a variety of different experiences: self-paced autonomous learning, courses, social and cultural events and resources. All services will be created to foster cultural and linguistic appreciation.

Three great components for Summer 2024:

1. Virtual Classes

Summer learning will be offered from July 3rd to July 17th

  • Classes will run from 9:00 – 11:30 with a 15-minute break.

Our amazing team of Linguistic Coaches is trained on the Common European Framework of Reference. We can assist and accompany you as you learn through our platform. All of our modules are CEFR-aligned. Learning is designed to enhance your French language capacity (vocabulary, syntax, language levels and more). With our educator Language Portfolio, you can track your progress throughout your career. This will not be a one-shot deal, but a detailed offering of pedagogically designed materials and well-trained coaches. The summer session offers the focused time to complete a module and gain (or regain) your linguistic confidence.

With your Linguistic coach, you will explore the following:

  • A2:                  La vie quotidienne (for new learners at this level)
  • A2:                  Les sorties (for returning A2 level learners)
  • B1:                  Les injustices
  • B2:                 Les réflexions (parties 2 et 3)
  • C1 – C2:         L’intelligence artificielle

2. PL for FSL Educators in Partnership with St. Thomas School of Education

In partnership with the School of Education, at St. Thomas University, all French Second Language educators are invited to our upcoming summer professional learning sessions with Léo-James Lévesque from July 8 to July 12 from 12:30 pm until 2:00 pm.

The goal of these sessions is to provide French Second Language educators with valuable insights, resources, and strategies that will enhance teaching methodologies and enrich the learning experiences for all learners. Whether you are an experienced teacher or new to the profession, we believe that continuous learning and professional development are essential components for delivering high-quality instruction.  All sessions will be conducted in French and will provide the opportunity to improve and/or maintain French proficiency.

3. August trip – À la découverte du N-B!

This year’s trip will take place from August 12th. to August 16th.

The focus will be on discovering and enjoying the great outdoors (including fauna, flora, nature walks and beaches) in the northeast of our province as well as a day visit up into the province of Quebec (Baie des Chaleurs region). And, of course, we will participate in the Fête de l’Acadie on August 15th. This is always the highlight of the year. Don’t miss out on a great trip. We have beautiful chalets reserved and a fun-filled agenda (tout en français)!
